Bottleneck calculator: is your CPU and GPU a good match?

Enter your processor and graphics card to see which one limits the other, tested across real modern games at your resolution, and the cheapest upgrade that actually helps.

The graphics card is the limiting part, which is normal

At 1080p the GPU is the limit in most games (about 50%). That means your processor is not wasting the card. Average estimated FPS: 70. Upgrade the graphics card only if you want more FPS.

Suggested graphics card upgrade
GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB raises the average to about 83 FPS.Amazon ↗

How this calculator works

Most bottleneck calculators show one invented percentage. This one runs our own FPS model across 16 real, requirement-backed modern games at the resolution you pick, compares what each part could do on its own, and reports the typical result. It is an estimate, not a benchmark.

Frequently asked questions

What is a CPU and GPU bottleneck?
A bottleneck means one part limits the other. If your processor can only prepare, say, 90 FPS worth of frames, a faster graphics card cannot go beyond that, and the opposite at high resolution. This tool runs our FPS model across real modern games to show which part holds your pairing back.
Is a GPU bottleneck bad?
No. At 1440p and 4K you want the graphics card to be the limiting part, that means the rest of your PC is not wasting its power. A CPU bottleneck at 1080p is the one worth fixing.
